The Laker soccer team improved its record to 10-5 Monday with a 5-1 victory over Marshfield.
Laker head coach Jason Ingold thought the team was a bit sluggish early in the first half. However when Marshfield took a 1-0 lead, Ingold said Camdenton arose to the challenge and claimed the victory.
Another challenge the Lakers faced was Marshfield’s different defensive strategy, as it used nine defenders instead of four to shutdown the Laker offense.
“I felt them scoring on us that early kind of woke us up. We played pretty good soccer after that,” Ingold said. “(They) only played with one forward, everyone else was on defense. We had to make adjustments on how to go against nine defenders instead of four.”
After Marshfield took the 1-0 lead, Nate Buttram tied the game five minutes later. Rayder Bennett scored the first of his two goals to give the Lakers the lead. Drew Whittney also scored two goals for the Lakers.
Ingold was happy with how the team played in its first game after the Laker Shootout.
