Lebanon -

The action track of the Ozarks provided plenty of excitement and action as the Lebanon Midway Speedway hosted the second annual Larry Phillips Birthday Bash. A member of Team Phillips, Jeremy Payne, came out the big winner in the DLRA/MARS LateModel challenge with more than 135 race teams in the pits.
The star-studded field of a scheduled 24 came down to the start of the feature with Jeremy Kelley and Brandon McCormick setting the pace for the race.
McCormick and Kelley went side by side into turn one as former Midway Modified racer Tony Jackson Jr. wasted no time in making it a three wide pass as he took control. Jackson used the bottom groove while Leslie Essary moved into second place. Jeremy Payne who started eighth picked his way to the front along with Will Vaught. When the checkered waved it was Payne taking the honors with Vaught, Steve Rushin, Jackson and early contender McCormick following.
The Super Stock feature event would have Stoutland’s Clinton Betts grab the early lead with JC Newell right beside him. Betts and Newell would run wheel to wheel until lap 5 when JC grabbed the lead as point leader Ben Newell of Stoutland made the move into second place on lap 7. The father and son duo battled until the checkered flag waved as JC grabbed his third win of the season as Ben Newell, early leader Betts,Travis Hill and Dwight Neihoff completed the top 5. Dan Newell of Stoutland placed eighth.
In support action, the USRA Modifieds provided another tight night of racing as Rex Merritt brought field to the start with Eric Turner providing plenty of competition along with Macks Creek’s Jimmy Willis.
Merritt kept it glued to the bottom as Turner went upstairs and Willis was using the middle groove. With Merritt looking for his first ever Midway win, Turner was providing plenty of competition as Jamie Ragland and Justin Neuman were coming through the field also by using the top groove. Merritt held off repeated challenges from Turner in grabbing the win with Ragland,Willis and Josh Hughes completing the top five.
The FactoryStock feature was a close event as Mark Bourey took advantage of his front row starting spot and held off many repeated challenges from Jody Tillman and Bryan Tillman in grabbing his second Midway win. Doug Rich of Macks Creek finished sixth, while Stoutland’s Derek Brown placed eighth. Aaron Gustin of Osage Beach and Sheldon Stoufer of Camdenton finished ninth and 10th respectively. Craig Dunser of Macks Creek placed 12th and Camdenton’s Kenny Carroll finished 18th.
The B-Mod feature saw Jason Otto hold off all challenges to get his second win of the season with Billy Street, Kris Jackson, Josh Woody and Steve Muilenburg completing the top five. Camdenton’s Jason Reckker placed ninth.
The Bombers race was won on a restart, when Shawn Strong took his third win of the season. Brandon Knudtson, Jerry Lankton, Rodney Yost and Billy Waters completed the top five. Camdenton racers Russell Ireland and Bobby Mooney finished 10th and 12th respectively.
