Camden County, Mo. -

The Missouri Department of Conservation has announced plans to expand the Larry R. Gale access area to accommodate more visitors.
MDC has awarded the bid for the project to Cannon General Contractors, Inc., Troy, Mo., for construction of additional parking.
The project carries a price tag of $261,260 and includes the construction of a new additional concrete parking area with striped parking spaces for 30 vehicles and boat trailers.
The access is located off Route AA on the Niangua Arm of the lake.
To reach the access, travel five miles west from Camdenton on Highway 54, turn north on Route AA  to Lake Road AA-101D. From there, signs guide visitors to the public access area.
The facility on the Niangua Arm  provides public access and boat launching facilities.
The boat launch is lighted and is open all hours on a year-round basis.
Facilities include parking for 50 vehicles and boat trailers, a two-lane launching ramp, courtesy docks, disabled-accessible privies, a disabled-accessible fishing dock and disabled-accessible walkways that connect parking, privies, and other facilities.
The Conservation Department purchased 194 acres for the Larry R. Gale Access in 1988.
The access was developed and opened to the public in 1991.
