We’re glad to see Lake Ozark moving forward with a plan to get trash receptacles off the historic Strip.
While any place that draws a large number of visitors is always going to have trash issues and a need for public disposal, we see no reason for private trash bins to dot the landscape when a few will do.
City leaders need to take a firm stand and get the garbage off the Strip.
The overall appearance of a place is judged immediately and with prejudice by people considering stopping there. If a place looks uninviting, they just keep on going to find a place that does.
City leaders need to address this question: Do garbage bins spread up and down the Strip make it look inviting or unappealing?
Neighboring businesses can find something else to pass the time bickering about – it is time to clean up the Strip and get the businesses’ trash receptacles where they belong – out of plain sight and out back, behind a fenced wall, anywhere they can’t be seen by a discriminating public.
