I first ran for office because I cared. I am not only a resident; I am also a mother, a business woman and a taxpayer.
I have worked hard to deal with the challenges facing our county. I have brought education, integrity and experience to this office.
I have a bachelor of Science in accounting from Missouri State University. I was graduated with honors and have been recognized in both “Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities” and in “America’s Outstanding Names and Faces”.
I have maintained a real estate broker’s license since 1979, and passed the state test for a real estate appraiser’s license.
I managed my own successful accounting firm for 15 years. I was vice-president of the Belle State Bank and have been president of Medicom, Inc I worked with youth drug programs with the Pulaski County Sheriff and Piney Ridge Center in Waynesville, Mo.
I have served on the School of the Osage school board. I have completed a study in the “Academic Leadership in Local Governance” by the Harry S. Truman School of Public Affairs at th University of Missouri in Columbia in order to improve my abilities to serve.
When I first ran for commissioner I knew I had a lot to offer, both as a candidate and as an office holder. I have worked to earn the acceptance and respect of our community.
I have tried to attend and participate in as many activities as possible in order to be aware and a part of our county because leadership is not a position or skill, it is a relationship.
I have raised three daughters in Camden County and am very impressed with their success. I am not only working to make this a safe and progressive place to raise families, and I am very concerned about the legacy we leave for their future.
As a commissioner the last four years we have accomplished a great many positive things for our county.
We have increased funds for the sheriff’s office in order to add deputies to the street, add animal control and increase pay to deputies.
We have added funds to the road and bridge department to improve low water slabs, improve roads and do striping.
We have passed a road bond ordinance to help with damage due to growth.
We have completed the Sunny Slope sewer district and are in construction of the Camelot and Normac sewer districts.
We have put GIS on the Web and are in the process of updating our aerials in better detail and color.
We acquired a new, improved health department building in cooperation with Lake Regional Hospital.
We have put the county budget and financial statements on the Web. We maintains open lines of communication with the residents, including a monthly talk show on KRMS radio the last Wednesday of the month as well as an “open door” and “open book” policy.
I am a member of the Lake Ozark Noon Day Rotary Club, the Camdenton Lion’s Club, the Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, on the Board of Directors of Lake Area Industries and the Board of Directors of the Missouri Ozark Community Action Committee.
I would like to conclude by saying that my parents taught me very important lessons while I was growing up. Honesty, hard work, and giving something back to the community are values that have helped me all my life. I would like to continue putting these values to work for Camden County.
I know I have the intelligence, education, experience and heart to continue this job.
