A lot of work and planning went into this weekend’s Offshore Super Series boat racing event for one very good reason – it benefits us all.
As the second of what we hope becomes an annual event hits top speed this weekend, we wanted to take time to applaud the many organizations that have worked to make the event a success, from the hosts of the event at the Horny Toad to the law enforcement agencies who will help maintain order and ensure the safety of residents and visitors alike.
Last year’s first running drew an estimated 2,500 spectator boats along the race course, but the event benefitted everyone who lives at the lake whether they attended or not through an increase in sales and lodging tax revenues to an infusion of cash into the local economy.
This weekend also promises to be a great one even for those not attracted to go-fast boats as Lake Ozark hosts its third annual Oma and Noma Days celebration.
Step back in time as the city by the dam celebrates the first crossing of Bagnell Dam by the DeGraffenreid sisters in 1931.
We’re sure you’ll like the era dress of the ‘natives’ as well as the frog-jumping contest and the Great Ozark Outhouse Race Saturday afternoon.
All in all, it’s another great weekend to be at Lake of the Ozarks.
