Gary Arlen Graham, 70, passed away at the Golden Age Living Center in Stover, Mo., on Aug. 6, 2008.
He was born to Loye and Dolores (Plank) Graham, June 25, 1938, on a farm near Webber, Kan.
He was baptized and became a member of the Presbyterian Church as a child. In 1963, he became a member of the Catholic Church.
Gary’s family moved to the West Coast when he was a year old and lived in Washington and Oregon until 1945, when they moved back to Superior, Neb.
His mother passed away when he was 11 years old and his paternal grandparents moved in with the family to help finish raising him and his siblings. His father passed away five years later.
Gary graduated from Superior High School in 1956. He attended college at Kansas State for one and a half years and then joined the Navy and served four years (stationed in Guam for three years). Following his discharge from the Navy, he enrolled at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where he received a degree in electrical engineering.
He was married to Pat Sherry in 1963 and to this union four sons were born. Gary and Pat were divorced.
He worked for Control Data in branches located in Minnesota, Indiana, and Nebraska. Upon retiring from that company, he purchased a National Property Inspection Franchise and moved to Illinois.
In 1994 he was married to Ruth Ann Wojcik and they resided at the Lake of the Ozarks in Sunrise Beach, Mo.
Survivors include his wife, Ruthie; sons Jeff and wife Darby of Uniontown, Ohio; Greg and wife Hilary of Westminster, Colo.; John and wife Kylee of Lincoln, Neb.; and Marc of Lincoln, Neb; three grandchildren, Lainey and Calvin Graham of Westminster, Colo., Rowyn Graham of Lincoln; a step-son, Jay and wife Anne Wojcik of Lugoff, SC.; two step-grandchildren, Julianne and Adeline Wojcik of Lugoff, S.C.; two brothers, Richard (Dick) Graham of Ketchikan, Ala., Delton Graham and wife Carolyn of Springdale, Ark. and one sister, Jeanine Blackstone and husband Leo of Superior, Neb.; an aunt, Donna Sibert of Superior; several nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents and grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Golden Age Living Center, PO Box 307, Stover, MO 65078; Bothwell Hospice, 3143 West Broadway St. Sedalia, MO 65301; or the Alzheimer’s Association, 9374 Olive Blvd., St Louis, MO 63132.
A memorial service will be held at Kidwell- Garber Funeral Home in Laurie in Mo. on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 11 a.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Heartland Cremation and Burial Socity of Columbia, Mo.
