William “Beco” Alonis, 89, of Eldon, Mo., died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at the Harry S. Truman VA Hospital. 
He was born in Hughestown, Pa., on July 17, 1919, a son of Joseph and Beatrice Alonis.
William was an Army veteran of World War II where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and earned the Good Conduct, American Campaign and European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medals. He also earned three Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory medal.
He then owned and operated Beco’s Army Surplus in Eldon for many years.
Those who survive him include one son, William Rogers and wife Debra of Chicago, Ill., and his good friend, Warren Lexa of Eldon.
His parents and siblings all preceded him in death.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3, at the Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon. Deacon Gary Christoff will officiate.  Interment with military honors provided by the Miller County VFW Post 2442 will be in Eldon City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, at the Rekus Funeral Home in Eldon.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
