Jerry Wayne Carter, 62, of Laurie, passed away Sunday evening, Aug. 17, 2008, at his home.
He was born Jan. 14, 1946, in Keota, Okla., the son of Robert and Reba Kelton Carter.
He was united in marriage on June 10, 1988 in Miami, Okla., with Mary Ann Bruce DeJarnette.
Jerry was a retired mechanic and manager of Equipment Away for Union Pacific Railroad. He was a charter member of the Osage Community Elks Lodge No. 2705 in Laurie.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Carter of the home; one son, Wayne Carter of Dodge City, Kan.; one daughter, Nicole DeJarnette of Eldorado Springs, Mo.; two sisters, Sue Grubbs of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Carol Inklebarger of Fort Smith, Ark.; two grandchildren, Jerry Wayne and Robbie; and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6 to 6:45 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Sympathy condolences may be sent online at www.kidwellgarber.com. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Laurie.
