Kathryn Louise Brown, 77, Lake Ozark, Mo., formerly of St. Joseph, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo.
She was born Feb. 9, 1931, in Hiawatha, Kan., the daughter of Glen Alexander and Jennie (Sturgeon) Alexander.
She was united in marriage on Dec. 9, 1950 in St. Joseph to Donald B. Brown who preceded her in death Sept. 12, 1989.
She graduated from the Convent of the Sacred Heart and attended the St. Joseph Junior College. She lived most of her life in St. Joseph, and then moved to the Lake of the Ozarks where she made her home with her daughter’s family since 2002.
She retired as a bookkeeper from General Tire Service and later worked as a visitor information hostess at Willmore Lodge in Lake Ozark. Kathryn was a member of Grace Evangelical Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by two sons, William G. Brown and wife, Jean, and Larry D. Brown, and wife, Stacey, all of St. Joseph; daughter, Barbara A. Painter and husband Bill, of Lake Ozark; grandchildren, Chad Painter, of Lake Ozark, Abigail Brown, of Durham, N.C., and Adam Brown, of Lenexa, Kan.; and step grandson, Todd Painter, of Lake Ozark.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Glen E. Alexander; and a grandson, Bryan Brown.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 11, 2008, at the Clark-Sampson Funeral Home in St. Joseph, with interment in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Hands of Hope Hospice or to the charity of the donor’s choice are suggested.
