The doors to the second largest commercial building in the city are scheduled to open for business this week.
Orscheln Farm and Home will officially open on Friday, putting to use what has been a vacant building for a number of years.
The nearly 50,000-square-foot building will feature a long line of products and supplies in 11 major categories including lawn and garden, farm supplies and livestock feed, animal health, pet food and supplies, hardware, plumbing, electrical, automotive, toys, housewares and clothing.
This will be the company’s second location in the lake area. Another store has been located in Eldon for several years.
The company is leasing the building from owner Raul Walters, who at one time proposed to form a tax increment financing district to develop the area and bring in additional retail.
According to Steven Craig, there are no predictions on how much additional revenue the new store will bring in. Craig said with city sales tax revenue falling flat last year, any additional income is welcome.
The store is planning a grand opening Oct. 24-26.
