Rebecca Lynn Zak Freeman was recently awarded a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from the University of Missouri.
Dr. Freeman, daughter of David Thomas and Martha Elena Zak of Osage Beach and wife of Jacob C. Freeman, was awarded a bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2000 from Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo. At the commencement and awards ceremony, Dr. Freeman was recognized for her strong interest in clinical skills in the area of vision therapy and received the College of Optometrists in Vision Development Award for Excellence in Vision Therapy.
While at the UM-St. Louis College of Optometry, Dr. Freeman was a student member of the American Optometric Association from 2004-2008; a student member of the Missouri Optometric Association all four years and served as Trustee-Elect (2005-2006) and Trustee 2006-2007; graduated as a member of the Gold Key Honor Society and served as Secretary 2007-2008; and as a member of the Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity 2004-2008. Dr. Freeman served as a Student Ambassador, 2004-2008.
Dr. Freeman will serve with the U.S. Air Force at Holloman AFB.
